It started with the League of Legends Championship Series (LCS) 2019 Summer Split in the form of two new revenue-sharing initiatives: A Fan Pass and Team Pass. Each Fan Pass or Team Pass are region-specific and offers a 50% revenue split with the applicable LoL esports league or team.
Fan Passes unlock special missions during which LoL players can earn emotes, icons, character skins, and other in-game items. Available in Brazil, Turkey, Latin America, Japan, and Oceania, the Fan Pass costs 980 Riot Points (RP), or roughly $10 USD. Revenues are split 50/50 between Riot and all teams in the region’s pro league.

Team Passes also cost 980 RP and are available in Europe and North America. Team Pass holders can select one LoL team to support during the split, then unlock team-specific items by completing missions and watching matches. Purchases are limited to one LCS Team Pass and one LEC Team Pass. Half of the revenue support teams in the purchaser’s respective league.
Bright Future

Riot revealed the 25 June that some characters are getting a medical-themed makeover. Three characters are concerned: Akali, Shen and Kennen. They are planning to bring new Icons, emotes, and other cosmetic upgrades.

Each item will be sold individually, but there will also be a bundle available, coming with an exclusive icon. The items will be available through July 23rd and that 100 percent of the proceeds from sales will go directly to the developer’s charitable arm, the Riot Games Social Impact Fund.
