Hardest Champions in League of Legends

Leveling Up

We all have felt like this, one way or the other, when we think things a little bit easy and want to step things up. In League of Legends’ terms means that besides enduring the terrors of “Solo Queue,” it means that some Champions require more “love” than the usual. First of all, due to the present gaming mechanics in this particular game, you need a little more knowledge to understand what is going on. Therefore, to play some of the Champions in this list, you require at least 100 hours of training in different matches and the perseverance of choosing the same character for a long while.

More than Right-Clicks

Consequently, you need to have a vast knowledge about the different abilities of all the current Champions in League of Legends. Furthermore, it would help if you mastered the different routes and hiding places in Summoner’s Rift, for possible Ganks or survival. Additionally, you need to understand every single role in the game, which are the advantages and disadvantages, and how to evaluate their performance. Last but not least, you need to have a better idea of what to buy on each occasion and what runes will give you some benefit in the match.

If everything is somewhat clear from all these requirements, you practically have a green flag and go for the complicated stuff that revolves in League of Legends.

Dominating the Match

At the moment, in League of Legends, two principles involve some more practice than the usual stuff. These two elements are easy to notice but hard to master. Indeed, with much practice in your gaming sessions, you’ll be able to conquer any obstacles that this game throws at you. Above all, these two gaming characteristics are the following:

  • Game Sense: Practically, it means how much you’re aware of everything that is happening (and it may come to be) in your present match. In other words, it requires that you always have your Champion in the right place and at the right time. As a result, you’ll be able to dodge the enemy’s attacks and create combos with your abilities. Most noteworthy, you always need to move your camera constantly or check the minimap like an OCD (Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder) player.
  • Mechanics: It usually means all those unique tricks that a single Champion contains in its repertoire. Therefore, some passive or activated ability tends to work differently than almost all 95% of the other skills in the game. Furthermore, these unique elements have the potential to improve the different abilities and make your Champion useful in the lane or team fights. Most noteworthy, if you have no clue about their characteristics or their uses, you’ll probably have a hard time farming or creating chaos with all your arsenal.

Game Sense

Game Sense
The Second Home

In this category, we find those Champions that require a little more aware of everything that is going through within the match you’re at the moment. Therefore you need to check every lane regularly, verify how your teammates’ performance, and keep a constant eye about the whereabouts of your character. In other words, you need to keep the gaming camera active, and your attention through everything that may or may not occur in the progress of the game. Most noteworthy, you need much knowledge about the game and how to turn the tables before its too late.

With this Champion, two abilities require too much awareness about the position of your character and how to move accordingly:

Catching Things Up

His Passive (League of Draven): When Draven catches a Spinning Axe, kills a non-champion, or destroys a turret, he gains a stack of Adoration. Also, killing a minion or champion summoned unit grants a Whirling Death Strike stack for 10 seconds, up to a maximum of 6. If he drops a Spinning Axe, he loses all Strike stacks. At six stacks, he consumes all of his Strike stacks and gains 2 Adoration stacks.

His Q (Spinning Axe): Draven starts spinning his Axe, causing his next basic attack within 5.8 seconds to deal Attack damage bonus physical damage. The spinning Axe ricochets off the target high up into the air, landing 2 seconds later at a location determined by Draven’s current movement. If Draven catches an Axe, Spinning Axe reapplies for no additional cost on his next basic attack.

Both of these abilities increase bonuses for Draven and his other damage dealers. Therefore, you always need to keep an eye about his Q, the casting time, and the little circle that pup-ups over the map to cath back the Axe and increase his Adoration stacks as quickly as possible.

There are lots of things to consider when you’re trying to master all of the Gangplank’s offensive and defensive abilities. Indeed, to give you a better idea about all these different elements of his arsenal, let’s check his different skills:

Aye Matey!

His Passive (Trial by Fire): Gangplank periodically empowers his next basic attack to burn the target, dealing 55 − 225 (based on level).

His W (Remove Scurvy): Gangplank consumes a large quantity of citrus fruit, Cleanse cleansing himself from all Stun icon crowd control, and Heal power healing himself.

His E (Powder Keg): PASSIVE: Gangplank periodically stocks a Powder Keg, up to a maximum of 3. ACTIVE: Gangplank places a Powder Keg at the target location for 25 seconds, which connects to other nearby Powder Kegs with an overlapping explosion radius. Gangplank and his enemies can attack the Powder Keg with basic attacks, dealing one damage per hit. Gangplank may also shoot the barrel with Parrrley. If Gangplank scores the killing blow, it explodes, also triggering a chain reaction that explodes nearby connected kegs. If killed by an enemy, the Keg safely dismantles.

His Ultimate (Cannon Barrage): Gangplank signals his ship off-shore to fire upon the target area for 8 seconds, calling down 12 Waves of cannonballs in clusters of 3 every 2 seconds, and revealing it for the duration. Each Wave deals magic damage to all enemies within the area and slows them by 30% for 0.5 seconds.

As you can already tell, different abilities require both map awareness and constant verifications of Gangplank’s status. First of all, you have his passive that ignites his sword and deal burning damage to the enemy, which you need to master its cooldown for better use. Secondly, if there are some debuffs from some enemy’s abilities, you can clean them with your W. As a third option, you have all those “Power Kegs” that you land on the map and explode if required. Last but not least, the ultimate will require some knowledge of the adversary’s position for better use.

This particular Champion practically works around Game Sense and nothing else. First of all, when you start any match, as usual, you’ll notice that around her, there’s a “Ball” that gravitates or has a movement on its “own.” Let’s review this ability first:

Do You Catch my Ball?

Her Passive (Clockwork Windup): Orianna comes with by The Ball, which she commands with her skills. The Ball has a 0.15 seconds global cooldown between casts. Additionally, The Ball attaches to Orianna if she is near it, and blinks back to Orianna if she is too far away from it

Everything else that Orianna has to offer in the match revolves around the Ball, and it’s different tools that appear as soon as you activate some skills. Therefore with her “Q,” you practically throw the Ball and deal damage to its destination and everything that comes between you and the Ball. Secondly, her “W” leashes an AoE (Area of Effect) spell that either buff your allies or debuffs the enemy; you always need to be extra careful of the current position of the Ball before activating this ability. Last but not least, her ultimate creates a magnet-like effect near the Ball and deals magic damage. Above all, you always need to have a clear view about the position of the Ball, throw it to your allies or enemies, and activate the other abilities accordingly.

Twisted Fate

There are lots of tricks under the sleeves of this card dealer in League of Legends. Furthermore, depending on the card in hand, the effects of his next attack deal different damage properties and debuffs to the enemies. Above all, the particular abilities that require a little more knowledge are the follows:

Twisted Fate
Believe in the Cards

His W (Pick a Card): Twisted Fate activates the skill and cycles through three cards for 6 seconds. Choosing one by reactivating Pick a Card (Pressing W again) converts Twisted Fate’s next basic attack within 6 seconds to instead deals magic damage and a bonus effect based on the card selected.

  • Blue Card: Restores mana.
  • Red Card: Deals magic damage around the target and slows all enemies hit for 2.5 seconds.
  • Gold Card: Stuns the target.

His Ultimate (Destiny): Twisted Fate and his allies gain True sight of all enemy champions for a few seconds. After a 0.5 second delay, Twisted Fate can use “Gate’ once for the duration. GATE: Twisted Fate channels for 1.5 seconds, Flash blinking to the target location upon completion.

There are many tools that you can use with this particular Champion to gain a little advantage in the game. First of all, you have the different effects of the three cards that you can choose. Therefore, if you want to spam your abilities but lack some mana, no worries, throw a Blue Card. On the other hand, to gain crowd control, you may need to Gold Card to stun your target, or the Red Card for more significant damage. Indeed with the Ultimate from Twisted Fate, you have the tools to set-up a powerful Gank or reveal hidden enemies.

Who needs cool-downs?

It may look simple at first, but there are lots of things to consider when you’re practicing much time with Rumble in any random match. Indeed, once you discover that by spamming the same abilities over and over again, you’ll not get the same results almost all the time. Hence, to understand a little more about Rumble, let’s discuss his ultimate:

His Passive (Junkyard Titan):

  • HEAT: Rumble gains Heat each time he uses an Essential Ability (20 for Flamespitter, 20 for Scrap Shield, 10 for Electro Harpoon) and loses 10 Heat per second after not using any skills for 4 seconds.
  • DANGER ZONE: Rumble’s primary abilities are enhanced when he is at/above 50 Heat.
  • OVERHEATING: At 100 Heat, Rumble becomes Overheated, silences himself for 6 seconds. While silenced, his basic attacks deal 25 − 110 (based on level) (+ 30% AP) bonus magic damage each while his Heat decays back to 0 over the duration.

Due to the differences that you cant obtain with his passive, you’ll know that just by spamming all the abilities over and over, your heat will increase. Therefore, you always need to keep an eye to the Heat progress and “cool down” for a little moment, and use right-clicks instead. In contrast, though, you always have the opportunity to gather as much Heat as possible and gain extra damage while silenced. Whatever the case it may be, you still need to keep an eye on your character and act accordingly in the middle of the game.

Lee Sin
Got More Teachings?

One of the most significant parts in the Video Game genre that keeps everything interesting to their player base is the ingenious gaming mechanics. Therefore, to keep you from playing “Solo Queue” over and over again, Riot always implements new ideas that make every Champion somehow unique. Still, though, some of these rules or mechanisms require a little more time to familiarize and master. As a result, to give you a clear idea about these complicated elements in League of Legends, here are some Champions with intricate mechanics.

There are lots of things to consider when you want to master the ways of the Sand. First of all, almost all of the abilities revolve in placing your Soldiers in an advantageous place and deal as much damage as possible. Let’s discuss his attributes even further:

Enter the Sandman

His Passive (Disc of the Sun): Azir places a marker above the ruins of all destroyed Turret icon turrets outside the enemy base.

His W (Arise!): Azir summons an untargetable Sand Soldier at the target location that lasts 10 seconds, expiring twice as fast while within range of an enemy turret, and vanishes if Azir is not in control range. When Azir selects an enemy in a soldier’s attack range, the Sand Soldier attacks in his stead, dealing 60 − 160 (based on level) (+ 60% AP) magic damage in a line. Sand Soldiers cannot attack enemy structures, wards, trinkets, and traps.

Thanks to the tools that you can have with Azir, you have the chance to stop the advancement of the enemy by restoring a temporal tower on the map. Still, though, you always need to know when to use this ability or when to keep it stored for better purposes. In contrast, you have the  “Sand Soldiers” mechanic, where you summon their support and enhance some other skills with their presence. Furthermore, when you have everything figured out, a single combo from Azir has a higher chance of killing an opponent or dominate any team fights.

Lee Sin

This particular Champion requires a lot of “love” to identify what you need to do and the precise time to gain the advantage of your threats. In contrast to almost all of the other options in the League of Legends roster, spamming your abilities may not give you the response that you get virtually all of the time. To begin with, let’s discuss his powerful skill:

Lee Sin
Breaking Hopes

His Q (Sonic Wave): Lee Sin fires a sonic blast in the target direction, dealing Attack damage physical damage to the first enemy it hits and granting True sight of them for 3 seconds. If Sonic Wave hits, Lee Sin can cast Resonating Strike within the next 3 seconds.

Practically, if you’re able to land Sonic Wave to any enemy on the map, do not overthink it and throw yourself for the kill. In other words, the closest you can get to your target, the more chances you’ll get to land all the powerful combo. Above all, you need to have greater control over Lee Sin and how to strike your opponent precisely.

Scratching In

She’s probably the hardest Champion that ever walks between the “Jungle” and through different Monster’s Camps. Due to her less impact when Human Form is activated, you’ll find it a little more challenging to obtain Gold in the early levels. Most noteworthy, let’s discuss her powerful ability:

Her Ultimate (Aspect of the Cougar): Nidalee transforms herself into a cougar, gaining melee attacks with 125 range as well as new skills.

It seems like everything becomes a lot better when she turns into a Cougar and hunts for some easy targets. Still, though, her human form brings a lot more essential tools for crowd control and long-range attacks. Hence, transforming at the right time at the right moment will make everything a lot easier for you.

Blowing Thing Up

Travel like the wind when you throw your skills at your enemy, while you lead them to the sky. Furthermore, thanks to his bonuses, you’ll leave everyone defenseless and cut them into little pieces. Seems like the only element that makes Yasuo a star or nothing at all, depends only on the player itself. Therefore, if you cannot deal with “Crowd Control” abilities or long-range attacks, you’ll probably won’t have a favorable time.

Bolts to Deliver

One of the main objectives that you always need to achieve is to hit your targets as many times as you can. Indeed, to complete this task, you have different abilities that give you dashes or impale your opponent for a while. Consequently, another great tool is her powerful ability:

Her Ultimate (Final Hour): For a duration, Vayne gains bonus attack damage and triples Night Hunter’s bonus. Additionally, Tumble makes cooldown reduction, and casting it grants invisibility for 1 second. While active, whenever a champion damaged by Vayne dies within 3 seconds, Final Hour’s duration is extended by 4 seconds, up to a maximum of the original period.

In other words, to conquer Vayne’s mechanics, you always need to use different tools to reduce the distance between your opponents. Furthermore, with the aid of some items, you’ll have the chance to increase your critical damage and practically melt the enemy’s health in seconds. Most noteworthy, you always need to keep your temper and remain in a safe place all the time.

Due to the many different elements that are currently present in League of Legends, you’ll practically feel that knowing all that this game contains is almost impossible. First of all, you have a vast map that contains different pathways, monster camps, and grass to hide from the enemy. Secondly, there are different Champions with their names, abilities, and gaming mechanics. Most importantly, the multiplayer factor always adds more randomness to the usual matches and keeps your attention for a long while.

We have to Start Somewhere

Furthermore, if you either want to become an expert in “game sense” or “mechanics,” you need to unlock the right Champions and practice for a long time. First of all, you have the Game Sense, where you need to keep an eye on everything that is happening in the current match. On the other hand, you have the Mechanics that require much knowledge in the Champions abilities and how to use them at the right moment. Depending on your type of expertise, there’s no denying that you need perseverance and tons of practice.

Either way, if you want to join the “big leagues,” there’s still much time to do so. Additionally, there’s a higher chance that a new Champion that joins the roster will have some new tricks to keep us busy in the long run. Above all, with the different patches that tend to give a little spin to the Meta, we may get the chance to look at all of these “complicated” Champions in the eSports tournaments. As a result, you’ll learn additional tips by looking over the experts’ performance in the primary stages.
